What is Character.AI? A quick recap
Character.AI was founded in November 2021 by Noam Shazeer and Daniel De Freitas, two former Google engineers who worked on the LaMDA model. What is Kirdaar AI?
Kirdaar AI is an Indian AI character chat web app built by Ldelight Solutions Pvt Ltd. "Kirdaar" means character in Hindi and Urdu, and the product is built for people who switch between English and Hindi mid-sentence. You can chat with historical thinkers in Minds, with sports figures, with fictional characters in Fiction, with friendly "Besties" characters, or with a character you create yourself.
Characters that portray real public figures are AI-generated roleplay inspired by public personas. They are not the real people, and they're not affiliated with or endorsed by them. The site footer says it plainly: "18+. Characters are AI. Everything they say is made up."
Pricing: Character AI subscription vs one-time credits
This is the biggest practical difference.

The free route: bring your own Hugging Face token
Kirdaar AI lets you paste your own Hugging Face access token. Your chats are then billed to your Hugging Face account and use no Kirdaar credits. Check your Hugging Face account for its current free limits and pricing. It's the most practical way to get a free character AI chat on Kirdaar, and Character.AI has no equivalent.
Verdict on price: heavy daily users may prefer c.ai+'s flat fee. Occasional users, and anyone who dislikes subscriptions, will likely spend less on Kirdaar.
Languages: Hindi and Hinglish
Character.AI understands Hindi, and many Indian users type in Hinglish there. But the product is English-first: there's no language setting, the interface is in English, and characters often slip back into English or formal Hindi.

Age policy and age verification
Character.AI: from 25 November 2025, users under 18 can no longer do open-ended chat. Teens got a "Stories" format instead. To enforce this, Character.AI uses age assurance, which can mean a selfie check through Persona or an ID upload. In 2026 there were widespread reports of adults being misclassified and locked out until they verified. Character.AI has also faced several lawsuits over teen safety, which is part of why these rules exist.
Kirdaar AI: the whole site is 18+ only. It isn't designed for teens.

Character.AI has one of the strictest filters in the category. Romance and violence get cut off quickly, and many users find it interrupts ordinary storytelling. Others see that as a plus, especially for a platform that used to allow teens.
