Janitor AI Not Working? Login, Error and Proxy Fixes (2026)

Before anything else

• Type janitorai.com yourself. Lookalike domains exist, and some may try to steal logins.
• Check the official subreddit or Discord for outage posts. If everyone is down, wait.
• Update the official app, or try the website if the app fails (and vice versa).

1. Janitor AI login problems

We won't recreate the Janitor login page. Use the method you originally signed up with.

"I can't log in / my account is empty"

• Make sure you're using the same sign-in method and email as before. A different Google account creates a different Janitor account.
• Check spam and promotions folders for verification emails.
• Log out, clear cookies for janitorai.com, and log in again.
• Try another browser, or a private/incognito window, to rule out extensions.

"The login button does nothing"

• Disable ad blockers or script blockers for janitorai.com; they can block sign-in pop-ups.
• Allow third-party cookies for the sign-in provider temporarily.
• On mobile, try the official app instead of the mobile browser.

Still stuck? Contact support through help.janitorai.com. Don't give your password or codes to anyone on Reddit or Discord who DMs you offering "account recovery".

2. "Access Restricted: your access has been blocked by our firewall"

Some users see a page saying their access has been blocked by Janitor's firewall, with links to Reddit and Discord. Janitor has said it's refining these security measures so they block malicious traffic without blocking real users.

What to try (legitimate fixes only):

• Wait and retry. These blocks are often temporary.
• Switch networks: mobile data instead of Wi-Fi, or restart your router to get a new connection.
• Turn off browser extensions that modify traffic (ad blockers, privacy add-ons), then reload.
• Use the official app if the website is blocked.
• Check official channels (subreddit or Discord) for announcements.

We don't recommend using tools to get around security measures or regional laws. If you're blocked for a long time, contact official support.

3. Age verification prompts (UK, Australia, Brazil)

If you connect from the UK (from 15 June 2026), Australia or Brazil (from 24 April 2026), Janitor requires age verification under local laws. According to its help centre, verification runs through k-ID with three options:

1. Facial age estimation: a short video selfie processed on your device.
2. ID scan: the ID photo is deleted after confirmation, and Janitor says it never sees it.
3. AgeKey: if you've already verified on Discord or Snapchat, confirm with Face ID or fingerprint.

Janitor says it only receives a yes/no answer on whether you're over 18, and your chats and characters stay as they were.

If verification fails: use good lighting and a plain background for the selfie, try the ID option instead, and contact official support. Users in India and most other countries aren't affected at the time of writing.

4. JLLM not responding, slow or repeating

JanitorLLM (JLLM), Janitor's free model, is still labelled beta, and heavy traffic can slow it down.

• Endless loading: refresh the page, then resend. Check Reddit or Discord for "JLLM down" posts.
• Very short or cut-off replies: increase the max response length in generation settings (if available).
• Repeating itself: start a new chat, or tighten the bot's definition (see our character cards guide). Long chats can drift; a quick recap in brackets helps.
• Forgetting earlier events: that's context length. Janitor+ ($12.99/month since June 2026) advertises about 5× more context. Or summarise key facts every so often.

5. Proxy / API errors (401, 402, 429)

If you've connected your own provider (Janitor calls this a "proxy"), errors usually come from that provider, not Janitor.

402 Payment Required	No credits for a paid model	Add credits, or switch to a free (:free) model

404 / model not found	Wrong model ID, or the free variant was removed	Copy the exact model ID from the provider's model page
Network / CORS error	Wrong URL or endpoint format	Use the provider's official OpenAI-compatible base URL

Never post your API key in screenshots or on Reddit. If it leaks, revoke it immediately.

6. Janitor AI app not working

• Update the app from the App Store or Google Play. Janitor's help centre lists its official iOS and Android apps as the only official ones.
• Log out and back in; clear the app cache on Android.
• Don't install APKs from other sites to "fix" the app. They can contain malware.
• If the app and site both fail, it's probably an outage.

7. Is Janitor AI down right now?

Signs it's an outage rather than your device: it fails on both Wi-Fi and mobile data, on both app and website, and the official subreddit or Discord has recent posts about it. In that case, the only fix is waiting. Keep a copy of any story you care about, since outages and migrations have happened before.
